Three juveniles and an 18-year-old were arrested after police say they pulled them over in a stolen vehicle in Westport where officers allegedly found a “ghost gun.”
Police were alerted that the stolen vehicle was being driven in the Saugatuck section of Westport at 8:52 p.m. when a license plate reader picked up on it, according to Lt. Anthony Prezioso of the Westport Police Department.
An officer who responded to the area found the vehicle, a Toyota Scion, and began to follow it while the driver headed north on Saugatuck Avenue, Prezioso said. The driver continued at what was described as “normal speeds” as the officer followed behind.
A second officer arrived to block the driver’s path before police attempted to pull the Scion over, Prezioso said. During the “felony high risk” stop near the intersection of Riverside Avenue and Post Road West, four people in the vehicle were ordered to get out, according to Prezioso.

Prezioso said all of the occupants were compliant before officers searched the car and allegedly found a firearm on the rear floor just below the driver seat. The firearm was described as a ghost gun assembled from assorted parts and without a serial number, according to Prezioso. The gun was loaded with one round in its magazine, Prezioso said.
Police found that the Scion had been reported stolen in Branford on Saturday, Prezioso said.
Three juveniles were taken into custody and charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and conspiracy to commit larceny of a motor vehicle. All three boys were issued a juvenile summons and released to their parents, Prezioso said.
The adult who was taken into custody was identified as 18-year-old Jermell Elmore of West Haven, according to Prezioso. He was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, conspiracy to commit larceny of a motor vehicle, illegal possession of a firearm and conspiracy to commit illegal possession of a firearm.
Elmore was held on a $20,000 bond and was expected to be arraigned on Tuesday in Stamford Superior Court.
